In recent years, the Python programming language has become increasingly popular, making it one of the most widely used programming languages. In fact, Python is now considered the language of choice for many application fields, such as DevOps, Web programming, and Data Science.
In this context, the Python community worldwide has undergone a continuous process of change over the years, enriching and structuring itself into numerous sub-communities dedicated to a specific area of interest, or to the support and development of a specific library.
For the first time, PyCon Sei gave space to the various Pythonista sub-communities present in Italy and abroad, and now PyCon Italia continues this important work of sharing and collaboration. At the same time, however, PyCon Italia remains, and will continue to be, a conference ready to welcome contributions on the various uses of Python and on all applications/libraries/application contexts, regardless of whether they may refer to a specific sub-community or to more general uses of Python.
There are many reasons to submit a proposal to PyCon Italia.
For example, introducing a new topic to the audience, or discussing new developments on a well-known topic; showing the audience real-world use cases of the Python programming language on a specific case study; presenting your Python-powered project, or delving into advanced and relatively unknown details of a module or library.
In short, every reason is a good reason to submit a proposal to PyCon Italia.
As a token of our gratitude, all those selected as speakers for PyCon Italia will benefit from free admission.
Beginner presenters will be particularly welcome, for whom a special support process for presentations will be organized.
It will be possible to choose between two types of contributions for PyCon Italia:
Each submitted proposal, regardless of the chosen type, must include the following information:
Note: The organizers of PyCon Italia request not to submit the same proposal multiple times. Doing so would only generate noise, confusion, and complicate the community voting process for talks.
As always, PyCon Italia is very pleased to welcome and host contributions in English, proposed by speakers from Italy and beyond! At the time of submitting a proposal, it will be possible to freely choose the language in which they intend to present, that is, Italian and/or English.
Do not submit the same proposal twice in different languages: it will be canceled.
Python Italia strongly believes in building a truly diverse community and fully supports the Python Diversity Statement.
Presenters are therefore required to avoid any kind of sexual, racist, or religious language or imagery in talks, to avoid offending groups that may be underrepresented at the conference.
PyCon Italia is a conference with an audience from a wide geographical area that spans countries and regions with very different cultures. What may be considered a 'fun and harmless joke' in one region may be very offensive (if not even illegal) in another. If they wish to add humor, references, and images to their talk, presenters should avoid any choices that might be offensive to a group that is different from theirs.
Following the established tradition of PyCon Italia, the presentation voting process is entirely public. Each participant gains the right to vote for the proposed presentations as soon as they confirm their attendance at the conference by purchasing a ticket. See all details on the presentation voting page (accessible upon the deadline for proposal submissions).
One of the strengths of Python has always been its community, and the success of PyCon IT has always been the merit of its community. If they think of someone who might be interested in submitting their proposal for the next PyCon, feel free to forward this Call for Proposals to them. If they intend to promote the PyCon event, they can do so through their social media (#pyconit).
